Vegan Grocery Shopping List: Cheap Plant Based eats

I do my grocery shopping on the Weekends, and I know a lot of other people do too so today I am sharing my Vegan grocery store staples. All of the foods that I buy are super affordable and perfect for large families, students, busy working adults, etc. I did do a post a similar post a while ago before I adopted a Vegan diet of my non-Vegan Grocery Store Must Haves so if you are not Vegan, check that one out too!

If you know me, you know that I am all about saving money. I use coupons for everything, shop the clearance racks, and am always on the hunt for a good deal. I generally spend about $30-35 a week on groceries for just myself which averages out to only about $5 a day. If you are wanting to cut back on your grocery bill, I highly suggest adding more cheap plant-based foods into your diet!

These are the foods that I eat to save money and stay healthy:

Fruit

Bananas (bananas are one of the cheapest fruits and are in season year round!)

Apples (again, always pretty cheap)

Pears- Bosc variety are my favorite

Grapes

Melon – I load up on watermelon and cantaloupe over the summer!

Berries- strawberries, raspberries, blueberries

Kiwi

Pineapple

Mango

Oranges

Lemons

Limes

Fresh veggies:

Spring Mix

Carrots

Sweet Potatoes

Red/yellow Potatoes

Bell Peppers

Cucumber

Tomato

Broccoli

Kale

Eggplant

Asparagus

Bella Mushrooms

Red/yellow Onion

Zucchini

Green peas

Snap Peas/ Pea Pods

Cauliflower

Corn on the Cob

Celery

Squash- Spaghetti squash, acorn squash, yellow/summer squash, kombucha

Pantry Staples:

Beans- black, garbanzo, kidney

Brown Rice

Gluten Free noodles- edamame, brown rice, or quinoa noodles

Quinoa

Gluten Free Oats

Unsweetened Cocoa Powder

PB2

Canned tomatoes

Vegetable Broth

Chia Seeds

Ground Flax

Healthy Jarred Pasta Sauce – I like 365 brand from Whole Foods

Brown Rice Cakes

Coconut Flour

Vegan Protein Powder- Vega, Sunwarrior, Garden of Life Raw

Nutritional Yeast

Unsweetened Applesauce

Popcorn Kernels

Fridge/Freezer Staples

Unsweetened almond milk

Dairy Free Coffee Creamer- Califia Farms is my fav

Salsa- fresh/jarred

Frozen fruit- bananas, berries, mango

Frozen veggies- corn, broccoli, edamame, stir-fry veggies, etc.

Unsweetened Fruit Preserves

Hummus- Cedar’s Brand is my fav 🙂

Avocado (which apparently you aren’t supposed to keep in the fridge)

Tofu

Tempeh

I don’t always have all of this food stocked, but these are the staples in my diet. I love fruits and vegetables so I always buy what is in season and on sale. I hope this is helpful for those of you looking to adopt more of a plant-based/vegan diet. If you focus on eating foods that are in season and buying cheap grains and starches, you can save tons of money on your grocery bill each week. I spend a lot less overall now since I do not buy any meat/ dairy products which used to be the most expensive part of my grocery bill.

What are some of your must-have foods each week??? I definitely need to have my oats, bananas, apples, and carrots each week.
