Copycat Starbucks Java Chip (Protein Packed & Low Sugar)

Copycat Starbucks Java Chip Frappe!

Don’t ya just love the great picture quality of this protein packed frappe?? I was in a rush and brought this with to class and was trying to secretly snap a pic without anyone noticing.

Anywho, do you frequent starbucks often?? Are you a lover of frappuccinos? Do you hate how much sugar and additives are in Starbucks’s blended drinks? I sure do. I can’t remember the last time that I ordered a frappe from starbucks. Even when you make it light, there are still a lot of ingredient in them that I don’t approve of! That’s why I decided to make a healthier version of a frappe! This smoothie is protein packed, has a healthy dose of fiber, and is a fraction of the calories of a frappe! I made it in one of the single serve cups from my ninja. I am absolutely obsessed with my ninja and love how easy it is to use.

Ingredients:

1 small frozen ripe banana

6 ounces of cold brewed coffee- I used Starbucks Mocha Coffee

1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk

1/2 scoop Sunwarrior Vanilla Vegan Protein Powder (Check out my giveaway of sunwarrior on my blog!) – really an vanilla protein powder will work

1 tablespoon dark chocolate chips

3-4 ice cubes

1 tablespoon PB2

Directions: First, brew some coffee. I made Starbucks Mocha coffee in my keurig. Then. put the coffee in the fridge or freezer and let it chill. I put mine in the freezer to get it cold quickly because I was in a hurry. If you do it in advance, you could even add the coffee to ice cube trays and then omit the ice!

Then, add the frozen banana, coffee, almond milk, ice, protein powder, and PB2 into the blender. Then, mix it all up! After that, add the dark chocolate chips and pulse for a couple of seconds. I added those in last so that there was larger chunks of chocolate in there. Bam! You’re done. Not only is the protein coffee smoothie much healthier than a Starbucks drink, it is way cheaper too! My estimate for the cost of this drink is about $1.50.
