Anti Inflammatory Orange Beet Juice

Juicing has been trendy for the past few years or so, but you know what’s not so trendy?? The $7 price tag. And thats usually for one 16 ounce bottle! Sure, you can find some for a little bit cheaper- especially from bigger brands like Nakd or Bolthouse, but those juices are usually more like smoothies and have lots of sugar (not saying that is bad). If you are like me and love saving money, then its time to make your own healthy juice!

Juicing is both easy and hard at the same time. It is super quick to make, but clean up can be a pain. BUT- it is totally worth it. I am going to share one of my favorite homemade juice recipes that is delicious and has tons of health benefits!

Here’s what you will need:

3 navel oranges

2 large carrot sticks

1 small-medium beet

1 nickel sized chunk of fresh ginger

optional: 1 golden delicious apple added in as well – I like to add this because it makes it a bit sweeter, but it is also delicious without!

Work in order and process the ingredients in the order listed above. Follow your juicer’s instructions. After you have finished juicing everything, pour the juice into an air tight container/ mason jar and put it in the fridge to allow it to get cold. Nobody likes warm juice right? I definitely don’t.

I love making food and drinks that make me feel my best from the inside out. That’s why I love this juice. The beets provide you with fiber, potassium, and vitamin B folate which are essential nutrients for your organ systems.

Beets are also a unique source of phytonutrients called betalains. Betanin and vulgaxanthin  have both been shown to provide antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and detoxification support.

AND… you know what is really COOL? The betanin pigments from beets have been studied and shown to lessen tumor cell growth through various mechanisms. Science nerd like me? Basically they inhibit pro-inflammatory enzymes to prevent inflammation.

Oh, and the health benefits don’t stop there. We all know that oranges are a powerful source of vitamin C and help support a healthy immune system. They are also a great source of fiber, B vitamins, and are rich in potassium which boosts heart health.

P.S- carrots & homemade guac is a delicious snack- try it!

The list continues on as carrots and ginger are are also nutrient power houses. Carrots have been shown to lower cholesterol, prevent heart attacks, warding off of certain cancers, improving vision, and reducing the signs of premature aging. Furthermore, carrots increase the health of your skin, eyes, digestive system, cardiovascular system, and also boost the immune system.

Ginger contains gingerol which is a substance with powerful medicinal properties. Ginger is King when it comes to regulating the digestive system. It helps to reduce upset stomach, nausea, can help reduce muscle pain and soreness, can reduce blood sugar levels, reduce menstrual pain, and reduce cholesterol levels. Ginger also has powerful anti-inflammatory effects that can help to lessen the pain of osteoarthritis.

If these facts aren’t enough to convince you that you need this juice in your life, then the fact that it is darn delicious should do the trick.
